The American Hosta Growers Association has named ‘Mini Skirt’ as the 2024 Hosta of the Year. This petite hosta has very wavy, blue-green leaves with creamy, pale-yellow margins. As the season progresses, the margins lighten to a creamy white. We especially love the twists and turns of the leaves that form an unusual looking clump that is around 5 inches tall and a little over 1 foot wide.
‘Mini Skirt’ is the perfect size to grow in patio containers or to use to create an enticing edge along a shaded garden path. The thick leaves help this lovely little hosta resist slug damage. In midsummer, lavender flowers with purple stripes top the miniature mound on scapes that are proportional in height.
